Minera Las Bambas expresses grief over victims of minibus accident in Cotabambas

We regret to inform that today Friday, August 27 at approximately 1:03 p.m., a minibus that was transporting 18 employees of our strategic partners had an accident at the Huallpachaca area, Cotabambas Province (Apurímac Region), resulting in the death of 16 passengers while 2 were injured.

After the event, we immediately activated our contingency and emergency plan to transport the ones injured in two separate helicopters towards the Mac Salud Clinic of Cusco with the support of the Cusco Fire Department. Likewise, we gave notice of the accident to the Police Department; we also made our social work team available to the families of the people involved in the accident.

We inform that the people involved in the accident are employees of the following strategic partners (contractors): Manpower, Geotec, MB Renting, AKD Drilling, Lavalin, M&RC, JRM and JP Natlian.

The reasons behind the accident are being investigated by the relevant authorities, we would like to express our total disposition to cooperate with the any information required.

On behalf of Las Bambas, we express our profound grief for the deceased employees of our strategic partners and extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved families; as well as to our strategic partners, whom we will provide the necessary support to overcome this difficult time.
