36 communities from the Challhuahuacho, Tambobamba, Coyllurqui, Mara, Haquira, Progreso and Huayllati districts.
Bring new value and promote the rich and diverse cultural expressions that are peculiar to the farming communities and towns in our area of influence.
The dance contest aimed at 49 communities, of which 36 participated through a team of six dance couples and a live band. Contestants shared their experiences and community traditions. The first stage of the competition included 10 contests in sub-zones that grouped communities based on cultural similarity and geographical proximity. The ten winning teams moved to the second stage, the grand finale, which took place in the Haquira district. Large numbers of residents from various communities in Grau and Cotabambas province eagerly attended the event.
The qualification criteria were essence and originality, roots, authenticity, choreography, music and outfit. The teams from the Callao community, Haquira district –Cotabambas–, and the Cconccacca community, Progreso district –Grau–, took first and second place, respectively. They also represented Grau and Cotabambas provinces in the parades and celebrations for the anniversary of the Imperial City of Cusco.
