PROJECT LOCATION

Nine schools in Fuerabamba, Huancuire, Pamputa, Chicñahui, Chuicuni, Cconccacca, Progreso, Picosayhuas and Challhuahuacho.

OBJECTIVE

Improve education quality in the communities from the Las Bambas’ area of influence through the Learning – Service Program, which connects school with community development.

DESCRIPTION

Projects managed by schools through NGO Encuentros Casa de la Juventud, engaging teachers and parents. These projects helped build teachers’ personal and professional skills, and improved and strengthened schooling quality, attitudes and identity values, solidarity and vocation of service at schools, through the following activities:

  1. Developing skills defined in the Institutional Educational Project (PEI, in Spanish) and the Institutional Curriculum Plan (PCI) for schools
  2. Identifying natural, archaeological, social and cultural (folklore, language, clothing, etc.) heritage, and community needs and problems
  3. Improving living conditions of students, families and communities
  4. Encouraging parents to participate in the learning process of their children in a more active manner
  5. Building a student-school-community identity
  6. Promoting an active, responsible citizenship that exercises solidarity
