Ccasa, Minascucho and Carmen Alto communities and the 13 communities in the upper zone with five nurseries in the Challhuahuacho district.
Produce and plant native and non-native species for afforestation in the Challhuahuacho district and comply with the commitment made under the Environmental Impact Study to reforest 7 million seedlings. Create local employment for young people and the elderly, foster a forestry culture and trade seedlings in our area of influence.
Using community labour provided for free by residents, we built and improved tree nurseries in various communities. These nurseries produce native and non-native species (queñua and pine). As of December 2014, we have afforested more than 649 hectares with 713,900 seedligns of native and non-native species in more than 19 areas and schools in the Las Bambas’ area of influence. The Environment Department provided technical advice for these activities. Las Bambas transported seedlings to the afforestation field as well as materials needed to fence that area (poles and barbed wire).
