Provide free, cooking school level instruction for community residents in our area of influence, formalising them as a community association with the Public Registry and the Peruvian Superintendency of Tax Administration (SUNAT), and register the association as a Las Bambas’ supplier.
The Community Dining Room Project took place between June 2008 and June 2011, with the progressive evaluation, selection and training of a total of 100 residents from the 13 communities in the Las Bambas’ direct area of influence: Huancuire, Pamputa, Palca Picosayhuas, Cconccacca, Chuicuni, Chicñahui, Choquecca, Antio, Pumamarca, Fuerabamba, Quehuira, Chila and Choaquere. The objective was for these residents to offer food services to employees working in infrastructure and production projects led by the Community Relations Department. These training activities will also help beneficiaries participate in the local and external markets as microentrepreneurs.
In 2011 a number of former students from these training workshops inaugurated three restaurants in Challhuahuacho. The training program continues in the communities, attracting new participants, and new community dining rooms are expected to open.
