Summary of Experience in Mining Issues: Carter has advised mining projects on their environmental and social strategies for the last 14 years in South America, Africa and Asia and established successful partnerships between mining companies, NGOs and communities. He has designed risk management tools at the forefront of business sustainability now widely adopted by the mining industry. He has served on committees and advisory groups of a number of international dialogues, including:
- the Sponsor Group and Biodiversity Working Group of the Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development report of the Global Mining Initiative

Rory Sullivan

Summary of Experience in Mining Issues: Over the past 15 years, Rory has worked on environmental and social issues in Australia, South-East Asia, Africa and Europe. Much of this experience relates to the extractives – oil, gas, mining – and energy industries, including evaluating tri-sector partnerships for the World Bank’s Business Partners for Development program and assisting companies with the development and implementation of environmental and risk management systems.
Rory has written over 300 articles, book chapters and papers on human rights, environmental policy and development issues. He is the author/editor of five books on these issues.
