To protect the environment’s biodiversity in the Las Bambas Mining Project, we have developed a baseline that will allow us to define a Biodiversity Management and Action Plan. So far, we have planted 5,000 seedlings of native species to compensate for the plants we removed to construct access roads and platforms.
The area has scarce flora and fauna, so we have started a review process to develop conservation within the Biodiversity Management Plan.
The Community Relations area will be implementing a long-term reforestation project for the 2008 to 2010
period.
